Scripture: Acts 12:15-13:3

Speaker: Joel Kelsey

As the focus shifts from Peter to Paul, we see the church in Antioch stepping boldly into God’s mission. This passage marks the beginning of intentional outreach to the wider world, carried out through prayer, fasting, and the Spirit’s leading.

  1. In verse 2, the church is described as “worshiping the Lord and fasting” when the Spirit spoke. How might worship and prayer help us better hear God’s direction today?

  2. Why do you think God chose this moment and these people, to begin sending missionaries out?

  3. The list of leaders in Antioch (v.1) is culturally and socially diverse. What does that say about God’s heart for his                       Church?

  4. Barnabas and Saul were “set apart” and “sent.” Have you ever felt sent by God into a role, relationship, or                                  responsibility? What helped confirm that calling?

  5. What might it look like for our church to take bold steps in mission, the way Antioch did?
