Scripture: Acts 15:36-16:5

- In this story, Paul and Barnabas, close friends and ministry partners, had such a sharp disagreement that they parted ways. What does this teach us about the reality of conflict, even among mature Christians?
2. Barnabas wanted to give John Mark a second chance; Paul did not.
Do you tend to be more like Barnabas (quick to offer second chances) or Paul (cautious after being let down)? Why?
3. How might how we handle conflict be just as important as whether we’re “right” in the disagreement?
4. Years later, Paul calls John Mark “helpful” to him. What does this tell us about Paul’s growth? About John Mark’s perseverance?
5. Have you ever been in John Mark’s shoes—feeling unwanted, disqualified, or sidelined? How did you respond? What helped you move forward?
6. How can we as a church community create space for people who have “quit” or failed to re-engage and thrive again?
7. Even in the middle of this split, the mission still advanced; two trips instead of one. How does this encourage you when you see division in the church today?
8. How does this story give you hope about God using your life despite past failures or current flaws?
