2. The Shock of the Valley
- Read Psalm 23:4.
- What surprises you about this verse?
- How does the sudden shift from green pastures, still waters, and right paths (v.3) to the dark valley (v.4) challenge our assumptions about where God leads us?
- What does this reveal about the reality of walking with God?
3. Our Struggles with Hardship
- When you face difficulties or suffering, how do you typically respond—emotionally, spiritually, and practically?
- How have hardships affected your view of God or your trust in Him?
- In what ways do you struggle to believe God is still with you in those times?
4. Jesus in the Wilderness
- Read Matthew 3:16–4:11.
- What specific things is Satan tempting Jesus with?
- How do these temptations relate to the feelings or doubts we experience in our own valleys?
- How does Jesus’ experience in the wilderness connect with what Psalm 23:4 says about God’s presence in dark places?
5. The Comfort of God’s Presence
- In Psalm 23:4, David shifts from talking about God (“He leads…”) to talking to God (“You are with me”). Why is this shift significant?
- What does this shift teach us about God’s intimacy and closeness, especially in our pain?
- How have you personally experienced God’s presence in your own “dark valleys”?
- In what ways does the cross show us that God enters fully into our suffering?
6. Honest Questions, Deep Encouragement
- Where in your life right now do you feel most alone, abandoned, or afraid?
- How does Psalm 23:4 speak to that feeling?
- How can this group help you experience God’s presence in those places?
- How can we pray for you in a way that reminds you God is with you?
